Mckenna Streett

Arizona has been my home for 16 years now. I have danced and trained in various styles for 27 years. In May of 2014, I graduated from Arizona State University with my Bachelor’s in Fine Arts for Dance Education. I began teaching dance 10 years ago at a studio in Scottsdale, where I taught 3-10 year-olds in Tap, Jazz, Ballet and Hip Hop. Since then, I have interned at Millennium High School, Saguaro High School and I completed my student teaching, as a part of my degree program at Sandra Day O’ Connor High School. I was also a Tap teacher at a studio in the North valley called Diamond Dance Works and recently the Advanced Level Contemporary teacher at Encore Dance Center. This will be my 9th year as the Director of Westview High School's Dance program and I look forward to guiding and teaching your students this year in their dance education.

MyTeaching Philosophy

As a dance instructor, facilitator and arts educator, I am dedicated to promoting the study of all dance forms and creative expression in your students. It is my goal to provide your students with a wide range of technique and historical context for the styles they are investigating, as well as an understanding of their bodies anatomical structure and connections, which will all contribute to their creative approaches to movement. I want to encourage my students to explore dance in a physical and mental way so that they may be well-rounded and versatile movers. I want to establish a relationship with my students that is both fun and comfortable, while still professional and respectful towards me, as well as their classmates. I would like to cultivate a community within the classroom that challenges, respects and supports one another in each of the student’s pursuit of dance.
